How To Do Magic Tricks For Free

I’m often asked what the best way to start to learn how to do magic tricks would be, and although it can be different from person to person, I’m sure I can provide a few hints and tips that may help and probably more importantly, – what you should try to avoid.

I think the most important thing to do when just starting to dabble in magic, is to learn a few simple magic tricks that can be done without having to use any gimmicked apparatus or special props. I mean magic tricks that can be done using ordinary items that can often be borrowed and handed out for examination after the miracle has been performed.

This can be really stunning for any lay audience, as they are so used to seeing magic tricks and illusions on TV and video, where fancy and often expensive props are used and also where camera tricks and clever editing are used to create a more exciting TV program.

I’m sure you’re well aware that most magic can be purchased from reputable magic suppliers and you’ll also know that the cost of most magical secrets is usually very high. (Often very expensive)

So how can you possibly learn how to do magic tricks without spending a great deal of money for these secrets and when most top magicians will just not explain how their magic tricks are done.

Most magicians first started to do magic tricks after receiving a small magic set, but unfortunately the typical magic set is usually made up totally of “self-working” tricks, with trick cards and boxes etc., none of which can be examined by the audience after the trick has been shown, and so there’s the problem and worry of having to hide your tricks as soon as you finish each one.

]]>

For a beginner this creates a problem, especially among friends and classmates, who are always desperate to examine the magical props and try to find out “how it’s done”.

So that’s why I suggest learning some simple magic tricks with ordinary everyday objects that can often be borrowed and then freely handed out for examination. Ordinary everyday items like coins, pens, banknotes and such like, appear to be beyond any suspicion of trickery and doing magical things with them is so very effective and yet often very simple.

This really adds tremendously to the magic and of course, as most professional magicians will tell you, – “the simple effects are the ones that are usually the most stunning to the audience and in my experience, get the best response”.

Some of the best items to use to amaze your friends are coins, banknotes, pens, rope etc. and there are a few basic skills that are so easy to learn and will very quickly allow you to vanish and exchange coins and several small objects.

One of these basic skills is known as the “French Drop”, which is what all magicians use to vanish and exchange small items like coins, keys, balls etc. So I would certainly recommend that one of the first things that you should practice, as a beginner, is just that (French Drop) and coupled with the simple Palming of a coin.

This will allow you to carry out a nice magic routine with borrowed coins etc. and will leave you “Clean” at the end of the effects. It will also get you out of difficulty when you are expected to do something magical.

This is magic that requires no props or fancy apparatus and there are now many great magical Websites where you can learn hosts of magic tricks for free.

In fact I set up my own Magic Website with the soul purpose of passing on my experience and knowledge to help all those eager would-be magicians to enjoy the sheer joy and pleasure of performing magic and entertaining others.

So in today’s digital Internet world you can get some amazing and exciting magic for free if you just search for and visit the right magic websites. – So go ahead and look around and welcome to the wonderful world of magic.

Card Magic Tricks 3 Of The Best To Learn

Some of the most common magic tricks that you will see being performed at shows are those that require cards. Card magic tricks have been popular at performances and yet they continue to mesmerize audiences. There are many different types of card tricks that make use of various techniques to achieve their level of surprise and astonishment among audiences. Here are some simple card magic tricks that you can try out on your own.

ABRACADABRA Card Trick This card trick is a self-working card trick if you know how to do it step by step. This card magic trick requires 21 cards from any deck. In order to perform the trick, try to deal three rows of card into a table with their faces up. Then try to place the next set of cards atop the previous ones and do this with the other cards until you get three sets with seven cards each. Make sure that you lay them on the table with each face of the cards visible to the audience.

Get a volunteer and ask him or her to think of a card fro any of the three groups that lay on the table. Tell them to remember it. Next, try to let him or her tell you from which group that card belongs. Once told, pick up one group of cards and then place it on top of the chosen group with the other placed at the bottom of the chosen group.

]]>

Next, try to deal the card the same way as you have done previously, by laying the cards in groups of three with seven cards each. Now ask the volunteer from which group the chosen cards can be found. Once the chosen group is given, carefully collect each group of cards with the chosen group still sandwiched from the other two. Once the process has been done three times, you are now ready to choose the volunteer’s card.

Now hold the cards face down in your hand. Try to ask the volunteer if he or she has heard about the word ABRACADABRA. Tell the audience that it is a magic word that will help you find the volunteer’s card. As you deal the cards one by one, do so by spelling the word ABRACADABRA as each card is being dealt. Once you have reached the last “A” stop for a moment and turn the card face up. That card would be the volunteer’s chosen card. Doing the process perfectly would always get you the chosen card along with knowing how to spell ABRACADABRA correctly.

Simple Card Trick Here is a simple card trick that would not require anything to remember or practice. It is simply a matter of natural probability used for amazing effects with cards. This trick can make use of any ordinary 52-card deck. What you want to tell your audience is that you can have them choose two numbers from one to ten and then you’ll try to have them show up in the deck either together or with a card separating them.

When a volunteer has chosen two numbers from one to ten, try to deal the cards one after the other face up. Surely enough you will find them surprisingly either together or with just one card separating them from one another. It can have a baffling effect on the audience, but it is a trick that is made possible by pure probability.

Magic Tricks are What Makes Magicians so Fascinating to Us

Magicians, especially professional magicians, tend to guard their secrets jealously. It is rare indeed to find a performer who would reveal the secrets of their art to the uninitiated or to colleagues. Very few of these individuals would indeed reveal the magic tricks they have developed on their own for love or money.

Nowadays books, videos, leaflets and other items available at bookstores and on the internet (even whole websites devoted to magic) have gone a long way towards explaining simple magic tricks. Amateur magic enthusiasts can even find the occasional magic convention to show them how to perform some of the more complicated magic tricks. All these things however are recent developments.

Right up till the end of the 19th century there were very few books or teachers of magic. Outsiders wishing to ‘break into’ the art found it an uphill and often frustrating task. The magic community itself was a closely knit group where magic was concerned, and made it a point of honour to collectively close ranks against all would be new comers.

]]>

‘Discoveries of magic’ by Reginald Scott, which was printed in 1584, is one of the first books ever printed that gave an insight into magic. Today, even with the existence of such organizations as the International Brotherhood of Magicians, there are still some organizations which make it a condition of membership to NOT divulge their art to non magicians.

Magic tricks themselves can range over a diverse arena that includes everything from the old pulling a rabbit out of a hat trick and mind reading to more complicated forms of magic. These will involve levitation, using handcuffs and replacing your assistant with a Bengal tiger.

Be that as it may, coin and card tricks are still performed in every magicians act. They are some of the easiest and simplest tricks to perform. They require nothing more ingenious than a sleight of hand and a good routine to pull off a creditable performance.

Popular modern magicians include such names as David Copperfield, David Blaine, Siegfried and Roy, Chris Angel and a host of others. These magicians have become household names due to their fantastic, unexplainable and often mind boggling magical performances.

However, the most famous of all magicians is Harry Houdini (1805 – 1871), the son of a Hungarian rabbi who started out as a watch maker. He then went on to become one of the greatest magicians in the world. Houdini is best known for his escapology – the ability to escape from any form of restraints – tricks.

As you see there are many different tricks that are employed by magicians. These magic tricks are what makes these magicians so fascinating to us. The many different magic tricks you will find are part of the atmosphere of magic.

Card Tricks ? Essential Magic for Beginners

Whatever the reason, Card Tricks are an essential part of any Magician’s performance. Some require difficult sleight-of-hand techniques, most just need you to distract your audience while you ‘do the deed’, many can be done in full view. A few need gimmicked decks or pre-prepared decks in order to work.

The marked deck is a rarity these days; after all, who needs to remember 52 different secret markings, all small enough to go unnoticed by the audience? Far easier to ‘force’ your victim to pick a specific card (she thinks she had free choice, but we know better!) then ‘control’ the card to the top or bottom of the deck where it sits until you magically produce it.

A favourite technique of mine (called; the Glimpse) is to openly look at the card (this becomes the ‘Key card’) above the selected card as the victim replaces it in the pack; all I have to do then is find that card and I know that the one below it is the selected card. Simple. The victim, and the rest of the audience, were all concentrating on the return of the selected card to the deck and didn’t notice me tilt the top half of the deck so that the underside of the card was visible. A few cuts then make it look as if the card is mixed up in the deck (a cut rarely splits the two cards that you want to keep together, but to be sure, Glimpse the bottom card after the last cut – if it is your Key Card, cut once more) and I then deal the pack onto the table until I see the card I viewed earlier. A nice twist is to carry on past the selected card, dealing say, another 3 cards before stopping and announcing “the next card I turn over will be the one you selected.” The victim gleefully disagrees – you can take bets on it if you want – and then you reach over to the selected card and turn that one over.

There are lots of card tricks you can learn easily that can be found at many dedicated magic websites. Many magic card tricks are offered free at these sites and are easy to learn. 4 Amazing Ways The Expert Do Mental Magic Tricks

There are many reasons why people want to do magic. Some people want the applause; others want to see the look of wonder on the faces of those in the audience. And then there are those people who merely want to have fun. One of the best ways to astound your friends and family is with mental magic tricks. These tricks are fun to learn and amazing to perform. Every magician even a beginner should have a collection of mental magic tricks ready to impress an audience.

From Your Mind to Their Mind

Mental magic tricks mostly involve staying one step ahead of your audience. With most magic tricks, scientific principles are used. However, mental magic tricks use more of a math foundation, specifically the laws of probability and statistics. When you understand how you can predict your audience’s response to certain questions, you will be able to master many mental magic tricks.

1) Pick a Card

You have heard magicians tell their audience: Pick a card, any card. Here is a unique twist. Have your audience member think of a card. You will be able to tell them the card by reading their mind. While this may sound like an impossibility mental magic tricks are done in a very possible way.

]]>

In this trick, the magician relies on the fact that most people will think of the Ace of Spades, the Queen of Hearts, the Six of Clubs or the Nine of Diamonds. Before facing your audience, pull these four cards out of the deck and put them in different pockets.

Be sure to remember which card went in what pocket. Your audience will be truly astounded when you pull their card out of your pocket. Mental magic tricks like this one are based on the probability of people choosing certain cards. With that said, this trick will also work most of the time.

2) Pick a Number

There are many mental magic tricks involving numbers. Try this one. Ask an audience member to pick a number between 50 and 100. The number must be even and have different digits. The usual answer will be 68. Once again, the idea is to be one thought ahead of your audience. Research indicates that 68 is the number most likely to be selected.

3) Pick Another Card

Fan out several cards before an audience member and ask them to select a card. The cards should be face cards with a Four of Hearts in the center. Most people will pick the Four of Hearts because it’s different and in the middle.

All of these mental magic tricks so far use math probabilities to succeed. Keep in mind that while they may work most of the time, they may not work all the time. In that case, be ready to improvise. Magicians understand that their own performance is the key to successful magic. If a trick should fail to proceed as planned, don’t let the audience know. Stay confident and in control at all times.

4) Bending a Coin

Mental magic tricks don ot always use probability. With this trick, the minds of the magician and the audience member appear to work together to get an unusual result.

Ask someone for a coin and then palm it in your hand. Have a bent coin ready in that same hand. Tell the person you will place the coin in their hand and together you will bend it. Slip the bent coin in their hand and close their fist around it. Tell the person to concentrate on the coin and when their hand opens, there is the proof!

Magic Tricks Revealed: How To Quickly Establish Rapport With Any Audience

This is a great set of skills that can give you a quick and powerful connection with any audience. They are based on simple psychology, but will make it appear as though you have powerful psychic skills. These are easy to learn, and you can go out and put them into practice as soon as you finish reading this article.

Credibility is vastly important when asking people to suspend their disbelief long enough to watch you do magic. One mistake and you’re cover is blown, and they’ll be watching you with a much closer eye. When people see a magic act, especially if they’d paid money, they want to be dazzled and entertained. They don’t have to make believe that you are doing real magic. They want to believe you are magic.

A great way to set yourself up as an authority in their minds is through some seemingly amazing psychic mind reading. Using some basic eye watching cues, you can easily tell what kinds of thoughts they are thinking. When you match up your “patter” with the kinds of thoughts they are thinking, your credibility, and their enjoyment, will skyrocket.

Here are the general rules. When people look up, either up and to the right, or up and to the left, they are generally thinking visually. They are literally seeing pictures in their minds. When people look side to side (without moving their head) they usually are thinking auditory, or sound based thoughts. When people look down, either down and to the right, or down and to the left, they are generally thinking of “feeling” thoughts.

One way you can do this is to pick out a willing participant, and have a mini conversation with him or her. As you pay attention to their eyes, and gain and understanding into their thoughts, you can easily match your words to their type of thinking. Simply put, speak in picture words (look, see, notice, etc.) when they are looking up, and speak in sound words (hear, listen, music, etc.) when they are looking side to side. People rarely think in terms of feelings when they are out watching a show. It is more of a visual and auditory experience.

While these tips are very basic, and broad, they will go a great deal in helping you gain a huge amount of rapport in a relatively short amount of time with any audience, or even with a one on one encounter when you are doing street magic. Of course these skills can easily be applied elsewhere, like in a relationship, but I’ll leave that to your own discretion.

For easy to master psychic illusions that will automatically have you at the center of attention at any party or social gathering, head on over to magic tricks revealed today.

Magic Tricks Revealed: Instant Decapitation

If you like the idea of amazing complete strangers with mind boggling magic, then you’ve come to the right place. Here you’ll learn a classic street magic trick that always gets a laugh, and a lot of great attention from groups of strangers. It requires a little bit of set up, and a few minutes of practice in front of a mirror, but in no time you’ll be doing this to the delight of as many people as you care to approach on the street.

This is the way it will appear to your audience. You walk up, and say you are practicing some street magic, and you’d like their attention for a couple minutes. Most everybody will readily agree to seeing some street magic, so you’ll have no problems getting them to say yes. You start to launch into a trick, maybe pulling out a deck of cards, but then you begin to sneeze. You act like your have a sore neck all of a sudden, and you start to sneeze uncontrollably. Then your head suddenly drops down to the center of your chest. You say something like “Oh, my,” and then pull your head back to your shoulders. You politely excuse yourself, and walk away. Needless to say, your audience will be stunned beyond belief.

Here’s the trick. You’ll need to get two shirts of identical fabric and color to set this up. One shirt under, and one shirt over. On the shirt that is over, you’ll need to cut a “V” shape about halfway down to the chest. You’ll also need to wear a dark jacket over both shirts. Next, take a sturdy coat hanger, and place it between shirts, so on the coat hanger is the cut shirt, and your jacket, but not the uncut shirt that is underneath.

As you start sneezing, and complaining about your painful neck, reach back like you are rubbing your neck. When you sneeze really hard, grab the coat hanger, and pull up, and at the same time lower your head. This will make them think your head has fallen off your shoulders and is somehow resting in the middle of your chest. Grab your forehead with the hand that isn’t holding the coat hanger, and slowly push your head back up to your shoulders.

The key to this trick is to do this quickly, both lifting the jacket and the cut shirt up, as well as returning everything back to normal. Especially if you set this up by saying you are going to do some kind of mind reading trick, nobody will be paying any attention to your shirt and jacket. Because this happens so fast, they will actually remember it as though your head really fell down to your chest.

The reason this works so well is that people rarely pay attention to things they aren’t “supposed” to. Many studies on social sciences bare this out. All you need to do to perform this trick effectively is to set it up as some kind of mind reading trick, do a good job of acting that your neck is hurt, and quickly apologize, and excuse yourself once you’ve “returned” your head. They will be taken completely off guard, and you’ll generate a ton of laughter and amazement with this trick. Have fun.

For mind boggling illusions and psychic magic to readily astound your friends and quickly become the center of attention at any party or social gathering, head on over to magic tricks revealed today.

How To Impress Girls Using Pick Up Artist Magic Tricks

Many guys are wondering how to impress girls using pick up artist magic tricks. The answer to this issue is somewhat elusive because all women are different, so having one approach is not going to work on all of them.

The most important thing is to be yourself. Too many guys put on an act when they are meeting women. They get this idea in their head of what women are looking for and try to fit that image. The problem here is that women can generally see through this act, no matter how well-rehearsed it is. Doing something that is “all you” will be very natural, and women will find this a welcome change. Magic tricks are a lot of fun, and can be a great way to show women how different you are and generate the kind of curiosity that builds attraction.

One of the first things you need to do is to figure out what kind of tricks you want to learn. Tricks involving too many gimmicks or complicated set ups are a very bad idea because unless you’re a professional magician you’re probably not going to have those on you.  The best tricks are the spontaneous ones that can be done with everyday type objects.

If you are going to pursue magic you should learn different tricks. But the point is not how many you know; it’s how well you know them. The secret on how to impress girls using pick up artist magic tricks is in knowing the tricks well. They will be more delighted with half a dozen tricks that are done flawlessly than with twenty tricks done in a slipshod manner.

Take your time learning the tricks, and take your time doing them. The whole point of knowing magic tricks is to impress. If you mess up during the trick because you didn’t take the right time to learn it, or you are rushing through performing it, the girl won’t be impressed.

Also, most advice on how to impress girls using pick up artist magic tricks has to do with being calm and collected. If you seem nervous and distracted, they will be turned off by this. One reason for this is that a lot of women who are looking to date are nervous as well. They want someone who is confident to counter their nervousness. Doing magic tricks can make you feel more confident because you are “in your element.” If you are comfortable in the setting the woman will be too, and things will go more smoothly.

One of the biggest challenges is knowing when to show your skills. When you are figuring our how to impress girls using pick up artist magic tricks, you will probably be tempted to move too soon. Find a moment that it seems completely natural to bring it up. Using magic as a pick-up doesn’t work. The only time magic works as an opener is when you are doing it just to do it, and a girl walks up and asks about it. This can work, by the way. But you can’t look like you are doing the tricks in order to get attention!

Knowing some magic tricks is a great way to gain favor with women. They want someone who is true to themselves, talented, and interesting to be around. If you are trying to figure out how to impress girls using pick up artist magic tricks, you may only have to look as far as a coin in your pocket or a pack of matches on the bar.

Types Of Magic Tricks

Magic is one form of entertainment enjoyed by many people from all walks of life. It is something that will never cease to amaze people both young and old.

If one wishes to become a good magician, it would be a great help to know the various types of magic tricks before performing any.

Magic tricks are done in a wide variety of ways and fall into different types;

1. The first one is called close up magic. It’s the type that requires the least skill and many can do it with just a little practice. It usually involves the use of simple things such as a deck of cards, some small balls or a coin. It entails making people believe in one thing but doing something else. This kind of trick proves that the hand is faster than the eye.

2. The next type is called platform magic. This is done in a much larger scale than the first. Some tricks of this type that are well-known include cutting a person that is inside a box in half or making a person who’s lying down levitate in the air after the table below has been removed.

3. The third type, which is very tricky, is called stage magic. Such performances are done quite rarely but when performed, they can become one great magic extravaganza. Such type includes making the statue of liberty disappear or walking through the Great Wall of China.

Innumerable magic tricks and trick lessons make it possible for a lot of people to learn how to become one good magician. This can be accomplished by buying a magic set or reading a book. Many of these people started while at home, watching how other people do it.

Other people who have some experience have talked with others and learned a trick or two. One can start with a small audience then have a larger one later on. To those who want to do more extreme magic, one should invest more into the trade, learn from others then make a mark to be truly called a magician.

One trick of the trade is to remember that no magician, either a beginner or an expert, should ever reveal the secrets of doing a trick to his or her spectator. Also, no magician has ever become successful overnight. Practice and reinvention can help a lot in getting near that coveted status of a magician — the famous and most loved one.
